That Awesome Animation Kid |
I am that awesome animation kid. Oh and you can call me Will. |
A new motion capturing technique developed by Image Metrics, and yes she IS animated. Some think this animation style still cuts it close with the uncanny valley, much like its close relative which uses points or markers to capture the movements of its subjects. However, unlike the latter technique (used in films such as The Polar Express) this technique is completely markerless, using nothing but raw footage to do its motion capturing. This demo has been seen by some as an escapee of the uncanny valley and by others as the ruler of it. Either way it is an astounding innovation in the way animation is done. I just hope it doesn’t replace traditional styles of animation for good.

Everyone loves a good Pixar film, but this could be taking it a bit too far. Could this mean a new and wonderful era for DIsney or could it plummet even farther into the dark hole that it is struggling to scratch its way out of. Only time will tell.
Only one word can describe this…. amazing. This is a wonderful example of both creativity and stop-motion animation at its best. Its the story of two opposing B-boys who grew up on the streets, and when they meet for their final battle YOU have to help them.
When I first saw this, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The title doesn’t lie.
A wonderful electronic song by Pogo. What does this have to do with animation? Well, it is made up of sound-clips from the first American feature length animated film, Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs.
This is the wildly inventive tale of God and his quest to create life told cleverly through sketchy images and absurd humor.
Okay sure, there are a lot of sucky anime shows and movies out there, and when I say a lot I do mean a lot. The terribly executed lip-syncing, the extremely long shots of nothing but ken-burned images, and of-course the corny voice acting can destroy anyones perception of anime. But these setbacks are usually only seen in mainstream media entertainment. So I have compiled this list of good anime to disprove the common misconception that all anime sucks.

North-East Florida love:
retirement golf course green or
ashes on beach sand.

You are the thunderstorm outside my window:
I sing to you in ribbons of smoke and you sing back.

You are the smoke I blow into the thunderstorm:
poison adopted by raindrops more fleeting than me.

Delirious and angry,
you’ve got her screaming
in the car; she
lost her last cigarette,
and all the fucks she gave she left
in the bobby pins...
The sand in my hourglass,
the rain in my hair.

Last night’s sleep
was the best in two months:
I chanted your name,
whispered against my pillow
how much I’ve missed...
God needs a Devil,
like a narrative
aching for a
worthy antagonist.
You, my contradiction,
antagonizing,
...
Snorting your crushed bones
off of your casket; you were
worth getting high on.

as they are no longer wounds;
you are not broken.
